Say goodbye to Runny noses, Fevers, Colds & Flus!

Winter is coming and with it comes runny noses, coughs, colds and flus.  Ok so how do we battle these microorganisms?

1. REDUCE DISCOMFORT FOR SINUS ISSUES AND CLEAR AIRWAYS

  • Diffuse (not burn) oils such as Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Easy Air Respiratory Blend.  Diffuse while sleeping to help breathe easy.
  • For adults, apply oils such as Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Respiratory Blend or Easy Air (Breathe) Vapor Stick on the sinus and chest.   Apply topically every 2-3 hours as needed. Optional: Take Easy Air (Breathe) clear drops as needed.
  • For children, apply oils such as Peppermint Touch (prediluted with fractionated coconut oil), Eucalyptus, Easy Air Touch (Breathe Touch) Respiratory Blend or Easy Air (Breathe) Vapor Stick on the sinus and chest.  For oils not prediluted, it should be diluted with fractionated coconut oil 1:4 for infants and 1:3 for children.  Apply topically every 2-3 hours as needed.

2. REDUCE FEVERS

Fevers are our body’s natural defence mechanism to kill off the infection.  To help reduce discomfort, see the following:

  • For adults, apply Peppermint or Eucalyptus oil all around the head, neck, back and on the soles of your feet every few hours. Apply then take a bath or shower and reapply.  Take care to avoid eyes as it may sting.
  • For children, apply Peppermint Touch or Eucalyptus oil around the head, neck, back and soles of their feet every few hours.  Allow them to sit in the bath for a while.  Reapply oils afterwards. Take care to avoid eyes.  Wash out with coconut oil not water.

3.  RELIEVE COLD AND FLU SYMPTOMS

To help reduce cold and flu symptoms and discomforts, I recommend the following methods:

  • For adults, take 2 On Guard Protective Blend soft gels or 4-6 drops of On Guard oil blend straight or in a veggie capsule every 3-4 hours every day.  Continue to take this for 2-3 days after you feel better.  Alternatively, you can apply my Immunity Blend (see other post) or On Guard Protective Blend on your back and bottoms of your feet every 3-4 hours everyday and continue for 2-3 days after you feel better.
  • For children, apply my Immunity Blend or On Guard Touch Blend on their backs and bottoms of their feet every 2-3 hours every day and continue for 2-3 days after they feel better.  Put 1 drop of Lemon oil in their glass/stainless steel water bottle to drink. Lemon oil cannot be used with plastic.

4.  RELIEVE COUGHS

To help relieve the discomfort of coughs, I recommend the following:

  • For adults, rub Lavender oil on the throat every 3-4 hours.  Drink 1-2 drops of Lemon oil in every glass of water (not hot).  Drink 1 drop of Peppermint oil to help clear airway. Take half a spoon of honey and a drop of Lemon oil or On Guard oil as needed. Optional: Take On Guard throat drops or Breathe drops.
  • For children, rub Lavender Touch oil on the throat every 3-4 hours.  Drink 1 drop of Lemon oil in their glass/stainless steel water bottle. If they are over 2 years old, they can take half a spoon of honey with a drop of Lemon oil as needed.

 

** Note: For breastfeeding mothers, please avoid Peppermint oil as it may reduce milk production.
